Creating inclusive learning environments is essential to student success, well-being, and engagement. This workshop explores the experiences of individuals with diverse Sexual Orientations, Gender Identities and Expressions, and Sex Characteristics (SOGEISC), with a focus on understanding the diverse identities represented within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Participants will examine the impact of inclusive and non-inclusive educational practices on learners, educators, and campus communities. Through discussion, reflection, and practical examples, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the barriers that 2SLGBTQIA+ students and staff may face, including discrimination, microaggressions, invisibility, and systemic inequities. The workshop will also explore the importance of language, pronouns, allyship, and culturally responsive practices that foster safety, respect, and belonging. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to create more welcoming and affirming educational environments, strengthen inclusive communication, and support equity-centered teaching and leadership practices. Whether working directly with students or supporting institutional initiatives, attendees will build the knowledge and confidence needed to contribute to a learning culture where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed.
